Color My World

I love colors... intense, warm, vibrant, powerful, active...even the latent, somber, quiet, and peaceful hues that calm the senses and restore the anxious soul. Colors have the ability to cheer, enliven, and caress the restless fibers of the emotion but their power is wide-ranging. Some, even in their tranquil tone can also agitate and stir a potent and compelling response from the beholder.  They have that unique ability to elicit unhappy memories as much as they can  trigger a recollection of joyful events that may have long been buried, and in that sense, colors reflect their double-edged mystic. Colors represent life's experiences - happiness, contentment, pleasure, disappointment, pain, trials, challenges - with their vagaries and multi-layered events woven and laced together to form the fabric of our days.

So what more can best represent the varied colors of life than the breathtaking phenomenon that the Lord of Creation displays during an unkindly weather? Beauty in the midst of the storm, the rainbow is life itself. Arrayed with its dazzling colors as the battle of the elements rages on, the rainbow is as much a reminder of a divine promise as it is a symbol of hope, the hope of a restitution and renewal of beauty, of sun-filled days, and brilliant cerulean sky. For whatever ugliness life brings to our doorstep, there is beauty etched somewhere within our visual reach if we will only stretch the myopic sights of our mind's eye beyond the here and now of time.

"Within The Rainbow's Bend" is meant to chronicle the spectrum that is my life as it reaches the "bend" in its journey to where the rainbow ends. Like the rainbow that arches on the horizon with a beginning and an ending, it is launched in an attempt to recollect the half-forgotten past and gather the myriad of colors of life's experiences that skipped my awareness along the way. Equipped with the colors of life's lessons, I hope the enigma of the uncharted future will lose its power to amaze.
